What is the Sexual Marketplace?

The sexual marketplace is an economy, subject to the rules of economics.

The Sexual Marketplace dictates how women and men facilitate their sexual strategies.

  • How do we apply them?

  • How do we initiate our sexual strategies?

  • What are the evolutionary imperatives?

  • How do we implement a strategy that helps us achieve what our biological impulses and our evolutionary imperatives drive us to?

We’ll begin with an example based on the Dual Mating Strategy. For women, some men would make a good friend with benefits, or a “fuck buddy.” These men are firmly on the Alpha Fucks side of the Hypergamous equation. Then there are the men who would make a good husband. Some men could be both, but these ideal men are very rare outliers.

There are far more men who would make a good husband than who would make a good friend with benefits (FwB). “Friends with Benefits” is the polite way of saying these are the guys that women want to fuck. We’ll need to refer to the 80, 20, 4.5% rule. There are multiple studies about this. The most notable (and probably the most replicable) would be by Dr. David Buss in his book Men Behaving Badly. Another good source is evolutionary psychologist Dr. Steve Stewart-Williams. His quote is this:

Studies of online dating find that most men find most women at least somewhat attractive. In contrast, women view 80% of men as below average in attractiveness. Men liked more than 60% of female profiles, while women liked only 4.5% of male profiles.

Once again, to refresh our recollection, the 80, 20 rule is not, “Oh, 20% of guys are fucking 80% of the women.” This gets convoluted and corrupted constantly. If you're familiar with my work, you probably already know this, but the 80/20/4.5% rule is not based on who's doing the fucking. It's who wants to do the fucking.
