How to Develop Mindset
Today I will do what others won't. So tomorrow I can do what others can't.
What the hell even is “Mindset?”
My definition of Mindset conflicts with the popular definition. Mindset has become an almost religious belief since the beginning of the 21st century. It's like what the Gurus say when they don't know what else to say. Mindset has been the basis of a secularized prosperity gospel stretching back to the times of Phineas Quimby and Napoleon Hill. You gotta change your Mindset, Bro. You gotta start thinking positively instead of thinking negatively. It’s the mantra of guys like Tony Robbins today. Self-conversations feature prominently in the new wave of Mindset. It’s self-gaslighting, so you do the heavy lifting, and the Gurus reinforce it at the next Mastermind event.
My definition of Mindset always comes back to the concept of what I call Mental Point of Origin. I talked about this earlier, but now we’ll get into the nitty gritty of MPO because Mental Point of Origin and Mindset are cut from the same cloth. When discussing Mindset and its origin, we must get to the inception level. Like the movie Inception. When we drill down to the inception level of Mindset, we find Mental Point of Origin. So I must detail Mental Point of Origin before we can get into Mindset.
Mindset is a derivative. It is the actionable part of Mental Point of Origin. When I say you need to change your mind about yourself, you need to change your habits, you need to stop sedating yourself, etc., know that you're never going to get to a state of Mental Point of Origin until you can change your habits. You're never going to develop confidence if you're sedated. You're never going to be able to understand the concept of Mental Point of Origin, and you sure as hell will never be able to come up with anything that will motivate you to real change, or changing your Mindset about yourself. Because really, what Mindset is is a part of your identity. If we're going to create a new identity for ourselves, we can't do that until we get down to the inception level of what Mindset is.
Your Mindset begins with your Mental Point of Origin.
So, what is Mental Point of Origin (MPO)? I refer to MPO in all of my books. It is a defining aspect of what I’ve written about in The Rational Male. This is a core concept. The simplest way I can put it is this: When faced with a decision or change, you're at a crossroads. You've got to go one way or the other. For the most part, most men do not make decisions based on what is best for them. They are taught and conditioned by a Blue Pill world. Their parents, popular culture, religion, ideologies, politics, etc., basically anything outside of themselves, to consider things outside themselves before they consider what is inside themselves. This conditioning for servitude is then paired with a man’s Burden of Performance, and now his indenturement becomes a point of pride and respectability. Real Men always think of others before they think of themselves, until their selves are erased from the thought process.
I realize that sounds a little bit magical. A little Zen-like. It's not. For the most part, when we're talking about Alpha. When talking about what an Alpha Mindset is, what makes an Alpha in the first place? Most children already understand the concept of Mental Point of Origin because they are the most important things in their lives. They tend to think of themselves in selfish terms, or we call it selfishness or being self-important. Most boys have that crushed out of them from a very early age. In Western societies, we do our boys a huge disservice because we condition them to think of others before they think of themselves.
